Our Version of the "Hoop House"

Of course I would love to have everything brand new with all the technically updated accessories, but I get a deeper sense of accomplishment in what we build from nothing.

We actually started out trying to find an old greenhouse frame to use, but we couldn't find any that was for sale around us. We were going to build it with several sections for different breeds.

DH got the idea to use a trampoline frame. We made a lean-to for my pigs from a small trampoline frame and it works great.

We just had to get motivated to get this one done.
2 Sportsman incubators full of eggs fixing to hatch was incentive enough to get us moving!! We had no place to put the new chicks, since our brooders were full of 3 to 4 week old chicks. We had to build a place to put these older chicks to make room for the new arrivals.

Now what are we gonna do in 3 more weeks, when the next batch hatches out????? DH is going to have to put his building hat on again!!

Oh I love the coop! We recycled our coop from a old rabbit hutch. I have some pics still on the camera. Need to get them on here--hehe. I have the problem with dogs where I live so mine can't free range. I think they are doing good in their coop though.

I love this trampoline idea! We moved a few years back and left ours at the old house. We had banned the kids from jumping on it after they decided to play a game called push my brother off and break his arm!!

Wish I had seen this idea back then! Anyway I am building a tractor using old wooden screen doors and salvaged 2x4's from a play at the high school and ends of a metal roof from a new hotel in towns gazebo. Will post a pic if I ever figure out how to unplug my printer and plug in my camera! (technologically handicapped)

We have now taken the tarps off this trampoline hoop house and put fiberglass sheets on it that we got at an auction for $10.00.

We have also moved it and it now houses a small flock of DH's game chickens. This has been the best thing we have build for nearly nothing.

We made another one with out any ends, and covered with R metal that we got for free and put it out in the goat pasture for shelter. DH and I put it together in 2 hours, including gathering tools and putting everything away when we were done. We still have to cut the uneven edges of the metal, but that doesn't seem to be a high priority right now.
We will have to put one end in before winter to block the West winds, and we will take off the metal from the bottom of the South side, so the goats can come and go from the East and South.

When I get a chance I will take pictures of both of them.
