Hi. New members from CA, here. My son wanted to try 4H so we got a turkey, having been told it was an easy starter project.
But now our formerly lively and "cocky" young Tom is lethargic, lying around, breathing through his mouth. He will drink the water I offer him, even with the apple cider vinegar in it. I don't see anything in him mouth or throat (ie. worms), his gullet is empty, his hind end is clean and pink, he just pooped a watery mess....
Any ideas what's wrong with him or how I can help him feel better?
Thanks,
Barbara and Robert

! Great to have you here but sorry to hear about your sick turkey. Best advice is to post in the following threads. Good luck to you!

Welcome to BYC. He might need to be wormed. Give him 1cc valbazen cattle/sheep wormer orally undiluted, repeat again in 10 days. Or give him 1cc safeguard liquid goat wormer orally undiluted, repeat again in 10 days.

Thanks. I'll try that. No feed stores or vets open today (Sunday) but I'll try to get some tomorrow. :)

He does seem to have diahhrea. Is that a symptom consistent with worming? Since I know nothing about this subject I just wanted to check to make sure before I give him medications. Thanks again for your help. Barb
