Hi
I've recently become the happy keeper of 3 hens and a rooster. Their previous keeper needed to find a new home for them in a hurry so they spent 3 weeks in a stable whilst a proper coop and run could be prepared.
Since they've been out the rooster has been very ' frisky 'with the girls but one of them really doesn't like the attention. She escaped once and the Rooster and another hen have now started attacking her.
We've taken her away from them in desperation because she was so unhappy and wouldn't go neer the other birds (not to mention the viscious attacks she was enduring).
They had all previously lived together happily. Can anyone offer advice on what might be the cause or what we can do ?
Thank you
Sandy

That should be enough room. The recommended is 10 per roo, but that’s not necisary. 5 or 6 should be good.
Thanks again . .... what about poor Emily (Pankhurst) ? Should we keep her separated from them until we have more hens?

Hi
I'm not sure. They were rescued battery hens and I think they had been with their previous owner for at least a couple of years . I can see if she has a better idea of thier are if that's important?
The Cockeral has been with them only about 6 months though ....
Sandy
