So my first babies ten week old Wyandottes have moved to the first coop in the barn. The moved from a prefab coop to one built in the side of the barn. We put them in at bedtime. They were exploring and scratching a bit but they were also sleepy. I'm trying very hard not to go back out there and check on them!

I am very glad to have them out where there's more room for them. They look so tiny in that big space!

Take a flashlight, and go check on them. Don't leave the light on them long, so as not to disturb them much. You will feel better after you do.

Although mine are only using the run part of mine, this will be me when the diy coop is done and they are out there permanently! :hit

It feels really strange i have to say. It's the end of an era. The start of a new one, though. It went so fast!!

The first couple nights in the big coop are a big deal for them, and you. It's perfectly acceptable to grab the flashlight, and check on them the first few nights. I do it, and so do several of my BYC friends.

Luckily mine starting roosting as soon as I put them in their coop. The window faces the roost and I could see them pretty clearly. I went out every couple hours to check on them, they were fine and probably thought I was nuts.

You guys are great! I went out at 6:15 or so...it was plenty light. I went into the person door to the coop and they were all up and checking the place out. It made me laugh to see them chickening around! I opened their pop door but nobody was brave enough! My bold one, Argentina, came to the doorway when I called but didn't come out. Treats later on their "porch". When I left Dolores and Argentina were sitting on a roost bar being VERY proud of themselves!

and finally we have someone coming out to give us an estimate on building our fence! Right now they just have a run. It's not enough but it will do for now.
