Well, all 25 were marked when I got them....but then they grew. Now I lost track of who is who. All bantams, hatch date of Feb 9, so they are about 5 weeks now. I ordered 6 EE, 6 assorted brahmas, 2 frizzled cochin (only one shows the genetic frizzle), and the rest of the mixed bag was whatever Ideal wanted to throw in. 7 chicks already found a new home. So now I have a bunch of boys and girls, breed and gender unknown.

At 5 weeks, one of them is absolutely a boy. Big ol fat red comb and wattles. You can see him here. Great, I have the gender, but is he a brahma? He's so obviously male, that the "kinda males" throw me off.....:

I have a yucky feeling that my runt, my only frizzle cochin, is most likely a boy. But maybe not. You tell me what you think....yeah, he's slow to feather in, but EVERYONE else is faster than him....not sure if its his frizzle genes that have him going so slow? I'm hoping that this one is going to be a girl, because my other frizzle cochin does not have the frizzle look, but she's got a smaller comb, and definitely more yellow. She's also a ton bigger than this dude....

This is Betsy. I'm pretty sure she's a girl if we go by comb color.....but what breed is she?

And I'm just curious about this one....breed and gender? I'd guess boy, but his comb is NOWHERE near as big or red as the first dude in the photo......

Well, that's just the few that I was able to grab ahold of. I've got others that I will eventually take pics of to find out breed/gender! Trying to get my chickens straight!

Really? Are my chicks so hard to identify or sex? Wow, they must be rare breeds?! :-)

Anyone, please?

your roo looks to me like a dark brahma pic 1

betsy looks like a mottled japanese bantam maybe.

Be thankful that only one is frizzled - you don't want to breed frizzle to frizzle you can get chicks with big bald spots - called frazzles not good. Always breed frizzle to smooth feather and you should get 50% of each.

That lat one looks rooish and is patterned like a lot of EEs but I don't see muffs in the pic??? Any that have puffy cheeks are your EEs Hope that helps.

Sorry; I'm stumped!

Plus I don't know much about bantams.

I know what I said probably didn't help; just reassuring you that you're not being ignored!

Thanks for your input.... Do you think my frizzle is a boy? I'm trying to fly under the radar, so it'd be nice to keep her....if she is a her!
