Out of chick starter can I use?

I ran out of chick starter, would it be alright just for later today and tomorrow morning to use layer crumble until I can get to the feed store Friday evening?

You can probably get away with it for a couple of days. I'd probably cook up some oatmeal or scrambled eggs or something, to reduce the amount of layer they eat.

Layer feed has really high levels of calcium in it, which is actually bad for baby kidneys. I agree with ddawn, feed them high protien stuff like scrambled eggs to limit how much of the layer feed they eat. It shouldn't be a problem for just a short period of time.

When I was I feed old fashoned oatmeal. Didn't seem to hurt any one for a day.

story's guide says to use chopped up rolled oats and cornmeal as an emergency feed if you run out.
