Chickens have the ability to smell things

Sometimes I swear they smell my cornbread baking as they are always gathered for it.
Anyone ever think about things like this?

I don't know about a sense of smell, but I do know that they have very little sense of taste. They average around 316 taste buds. The average human has 10,000 tastebuds...

mmmmm cornbread....if you see a person hanging around with the chickens at your door, it's me.

Chickens have a well developed sense of smell. Mine smell yogurt from across the yard!

That interesting about the tastebuds. I was wondering about that since they can't really enjoy what their eating since they pretty much swallow it and it doesn't stay for very long in their mouth. I guess a strong sense of smell would make up for that.

Chickens smell well. It is true they have no sense of taste. They know what to eat by the texture, feel of the food with their beaks.

ok not a problem! I always use my 8 inch cast iron skillet to make their cornbread! So come on over!
Seriously I do love my chicken friends and I do tend to spoil them rotten!

I just might have to try that as I believe my hubby would also love it.
He has also requested chopped onion in it also.
