agree with other suggestions: also you can add some peas, tomatoes, cooked spaghetti noodles ( plain) -mine love noodles, I think they think its worms

cooked winter squash or cooked potatoes (from Carol Deppe's book, The Resilient Gardener) can be fed to ducks. I have done it a few times to see if they liked it, and I served them lightly mashed with skins chopped up small. I learned to use a deep bowl. They fling it, but they like to eat it.

Whole grain wheat is higher in protein than oatmeal if I recall correctly. Ground flax meal provides omega fatty acids.

A few nibbles of sardines, unsalted, packed in water is okay. That has vitamins D and B3 (niacin).

Will you be able to get some pellets soon?

He has been on this diet a week?

Your duck will survive on the diet you are feeding but won't really thrive.
I would get to a feed store ASAP.

I just fed my duck. And he is now out of feed! .... I just fed him his morning serving.... But it's the week end and no feed stores are open! ..... he is 10 and a half weeks old.

That was 10 days ago?

You certainly have very looooooong weekends where you live!

He is now on a diet of corn, oat, and lettuce.
Is that okay?
His poop is a little greener than usual...
Is that bad?
Should I maybe give less lettuce?

Let me ask you this question: would you feed that to yourself for a week and still ask if that was ok?

In a nutshell: is it okay? No
Is greener poop bad? It's a reflection on what it is eating
Should you give less lettuce? Definately!!!! In fact, less lettuce, corn oats; and 100% more duck feed!

Please take care of your duck; it is a responsibility, not a toy or an experiment. Running out of food is one thing, neglecting to rectify that at the earliest opportunity is another thing entirely.

I am with Mum on this one. It's been far too long to NOT have gotten proper feed. If you can afford it, then it is time to find a new home for the birds so they aren't a drain.

Am I the only one who buys enough feed for an entire month at a time? Keep it in a metal trash bin and voila. I never, ever run out. Free choice feed with a compost bin full of fruits and veggies from the store. Makes some good, healthy, happy poultry.

Furbaby, we don't buy a month at a time, that would be far too much feed to store while using from the bins that hold opened bags. Plus with all the animals we feed too many types to keep sorted and easy to pull bags from. However, our feed is delivered every two weeks like clock work. Thursday morning I get a call from the feed store, give our order and that afternoon it's stacked and ready for us to use here. I have gotten to where we have about 2 days of feed left when the new arrives, so we use up and dump all the new bags and start over.
