Unfortunately no avian vets nearby. I am stumped.Fowl pox usually would look different too, so is there an avian vet you could take her to get an accurate diagnosis?
We probably have been mosquito free for at least 2 months now. Started getting frosts in October.How many weeks ago were mosquitoes active?
The incubation period after exposure to the infected mosquito is 10-14 days and then the fowl pox virus can take 3-5 weeks to work its way through the host chicken. Once a chicken is infected, the pox virus can be passed from chicken to chicken, and pox can show up in this manner weeks and months after mosquitoes are dormant.
