My 6 week old chicks are officially out of the brooder! They were making such a mess in their brooder box and the peeping/strangled bocking...well...it was definitely time! My ex -husband finished building the coop on friday and the girls were out sat night! Like the rest of you I was VERY nervous. Hoping they wouldn't be too hot/too cold/ too scared. They looked a little nervous when I first put them in. I peeked through the window a few times (OK! MORE than a few!) and they were huddled in front of the door that I use to enter the coop.... almost like they were waiting for me to come in! Poor little darlings!
Sunday I bought a large chicken tractor as I have no run off my coop yet. I put 4 of the girls who wanted to come out and play in the tractor. Boy! Did they have a blast! It took them a while to figure out the ramp...but my 8 yo son climbed in to show them what to do!
This morning when I approached the coop I could hear them running around inside! Ahhhhh! So much more room to play!
Now that my chicks are becoming big girls I can't help but feel a little sad. It seems like it was yesterday that they just were sleepin' & peepin'!
