Out of the coop and into the frying pan

Wow, that is $$$! But if you do it again, you already have the equipment, etc. What an experience for your kids, especially to know where their food is coming from!

I just bought 8 RIR chicks. I have decided that the roos will be on our table. It may sound stupid, but so far our chickens have mostly been pets. One good thing with our "pet chickens" so far is that I am starting to get some egg sales. But, I have a different mindset with these chicks. (But they're still so darn cute!)

Like I said in one of your other posts. Now that you have all the equipment (and knowledge) things should be cheaper and easier for you the next time.

Were you ever able to source a cheaper feed store/mill? Your cost per bird should be higher living out west. Your cost of living is 5X greater than mine (by going off what I see on TV

).
