These beauties are the same as a cone flower, right? We have purple ones up here in WI that aren't even in bloom yet.

Yup, Coneflower. Can't remember the variety. This is the 3rd or 4th year for these and they come back beautifully every year.

entry 2: hemerocallis (day lily). These are edible (best just before they open) so I'm not sure if this counts as flower or veg!

1. entry , I had planned a lot of high beds this year, so planted many vegetables and flowers. To cut a long story short, I got plenty of flowers and vegetables , but only managed to build 2 raised beds…I felt too bad to let everything go to waste, so I started planting the rest in every pot and planter I could find, I read up on poppies that they have deep roots and need to be planted in the ground, I tried that, they didn’t like being transplanted, so I left the rest in a wooden container, which was only supposed to hold them until I could plant them in a better place, amazingly, they started blooming yesterday I only felt sorry for them , but didn’t expect any flowers!! And…I thought only the pink flamingo has sprouted, interestingly, it looks like only the black swan sprouted

Entry 2, another „war story“, this is a clematis I planted at least 5 years ago, since we have very sandy soil, hot temperatures in summer and little rain, it didn’t do well, last year it funally sprouted a few leaves and one small flower, then a chicken ripped off everything, and I thought, this was it, but…..surprisingly, it grew back this year, and as you can see. Sprouted some beautiful flowers

3. entry; A friend of mine always sends me seedlings in spring, cos she has a glasshouse, this year, she sent me 2 physalis, I only needed one, so I gave the other to a friend who also owns a glasshouse, he called me a few weeks later and said that the physalis had taken over his glasshouse, I had to see for myself

Poppies, like daisies here, will pop up in our yard here or there looking pretty weak. We dig them up and transplant them and rarely will one come back. They seem to prefer crappy soil I guess.
