4. entry; my peach tree is full the first year it bore fruit, I was in the hospital, so all the peaches fell off and rotted away last year, a late frost killed all the buds, so this year, it is so full of fruit I am afraid the branches will break off

You need to thin your peaches. You'll get larger fruit and it will save your branches. But, just to be safe you also might want to place some support under the branches. I'm glad you'll be able to enjoy them this year. Nice crop!

There's not a word in the rules about not having an animal or person in these pictures. I just know for the beauty value and focal point of the picture for this contest, if it adds to it or does nothing either way, then great. If it takes away from it, points are lost. It's all up to the judges. I think it's an adorable picture, whether it ranks up there or not.

I thought about it and I think it should be disqualified. I’d like to change it to not an entry. I went back and wrote not an entry on it. I have plenty of other things I can enter instead. I hope it’s OK.

Of course, it's okay. You can enter anything you want. You could have left that in, but if you have a couple of more pictures as pretty as that rose, then that's what I'd do too!

I wasn’t going to enter, but lookit lookit how my squash is doing!

Squash bloom. It was a seed library seed, and the packet said it was ‘2000 Year Old Squash’ (a little digging brought up the name ‘Gete Okosomin’) donated by the local indigenous museum. Of the five or so I tried to sprout this is the only one that made it, and it nearly died during the month of cool weather after it went into the ground - but it made a comeback with a little babying while all the other big viney seedlings (melons, cucumbers) had already died outright and had to be replaced.

That's so beautiful, but now I'm stumped. Is that going in the flower category or the garden? I'd guess the garden, since it's a vegetable in your garden.

That's an amazing amt of peaches! We have a Zone 4 peach tree here in Wisconsin that was loaded like that and it did break some branches. Last fall we pruned it a lot, and must've shocked it because we'll not be getting any this year. They are the best peaches though so hopefully next year!

I'm not sure which one it was, but it was purchased from Gurney's about six or seven years ago. If you can get one that says Zone 4 and brags about flavor, get it as it's been amazing for us until we let it get out of hand! We never knew we could grow peaches up here!

We've grown "Reliance" with some success...the most recent ones were killed by some fungus though. This year we planted "Contender" (I think that's what they're called).
