Outdoor pests?

The ash is a great idea. Sure hope it works! Ash is very alkaline and is used to make lye soap. Makes sense that it might keep the lice and fleas off.

The ash works great.

I discovered about this when I had a bonfire in the garden. The next day I was surprised to see all my chickens dust bathing in the ashes.

The used it all the time.. rather than the normal dirt. I was upset when my beautiful white hens came out looking grey.. but they go back to white after a few hours.

Every time we have a bonfire they chickens love to use the ashes now.... and we have not seen any mites on the chickens for years.

Its amazing how the birds instinctively know what is good for them and what they need.

Ashes are also good for the garden Note* potash. pot-ASH, potassium. We spend all that money and right here........

It's amazing what you can recycle/repurpose without use of harsh chemicals. Everyone has been so nice with their ideas and advice :) Thank you!

guess what I learnt something new

Yes lclark, you should be careful about your chickens, fleas, mites or pests can harm them. You can take help of some professional like Exterminator West Haven CT which you can find online to exterminate the area where you are gonna be putting, this can decrease the chances of fleas, mites or pests attracking them, or else you can also take some DIY methods to help them stay safe.
