Outside overnight.

Thinking about putting my 20-6 week old chicks outside in their coop for the first time overnight. I put down 3” of pine shavings. The lows at night are 45-55. Do you think it’s fine?

Absolutely. I move mine out a lot sooner. Just make sure they stay dry and those temps won't bother them at all. Especially with 20 chicks.

Alright make me feel a little better haha. What age and temps do you move yours out at?

Your chicks will do fine. They're fully feathered by 6 wks. Our low tonight is expected to be 39. I just moved 4 wk olds out today. They get a heat lamp over night but will good to go with day temps in 60s.

I moved mine to an outside brooder at 5 days old using a mama hen heating plate and the night time temps were in the low 30s.

We have a heat plate in the coop with them. They are not using it now, so I assume they are fine and don’t need it.
