Twigg, I couldn't have said it better......however as I stated they are different.....Dickey's cabinet is not made out of particle board and cost less!!!!!!! Somewhere money does entire into the decision on what product to buy. It is very hard to repair particle board...IMO you are wrong....solid wood is better. The Cadillac of incubators in the 60'-'70's was made by the Leahy Bros. and theirs was made from solid Redwood 1 3/4" thick, Check out Legg Peacock Ranch in Missouri, he sold all his Sportsmans and replaced them with antique Leahys because he had a higher hatch rate....their product held the humidity and temp better. Someone please lend me some money so I can get a Dickey...I already own a Leahy Model 1200.

I take wood 10 times over particle board. I do not care or buy about "better insulation" theories of particle board versus wood.
Old classic bators were made of wood, there is no better material for many things then wood (how about hives beekepers? like plastic or particle board better?).
Particle board is cheap, heavy easily absorbs moisture and after it swells you can say it good buy, termites love it.
I will most likely buy a Dickey when I need more volume.
Dickey is a handcrafted and better constructed version of mass produced Sportsman, and it is backed up personally buy it's maker Mr Dickey, to me an unbeatable deal.
