Does the egg coloration effect physical appearances of the birds ?![]()
I'm not exactly sure if you have anything specifically in mind but no. There is no genetic link between any color or physical appearance of the bird to egg shell color.
I can think of two different things some people believe. One is the pea comb. Most blue or green egg layers have pea combs, but several breeds that have pea combs do not lay blue or green eggs. Brahma and Buckeye for example lay brown eggs. So a pea comb does not mean blue or greed eggs.
The other is ear lobe color. While may people believe that a red ear lobe means a brown egg or a white ear lobe means a white egg, it is simply not correct. I've had plenty of mixed breeds with white ear lobes that laid brown eggs. Some breeds that do not follow that "rule" are Phoenix, Penedesenca, and Holland to name a few. Most pure breeds do follow that rule but that is because the people that designed the breed chose to do it that way, not because the egg shell color has an effect on ear lobe color.
Have you heard anything else?
