I got a new duck and am raising him as a pet, but I'm 14 and need to go to school and he is so attached to me that when I leave for school he just sits by the door and chirps very loudly and he won't eat or drink when I'm not home. My sister is 17 and homeschooled and goes and spends time with him during my school time but she said he still will not eat or drink and I don't know how to fix that. Any advice?

Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

That's what happens when animals imprint on humans. It's cute at first then gets out of hand. Maybe if he had a duckie friend or two, who might remember he is one also.
