Pleeeeeease help!! I ended up with 4 roosters and 4 hens. Not exactly my idea of perfect, but it is what it is. I love them all and have no intention of killing/eating or giving them away. So what can I do? I have a NHR that keeps attacking. I just swat him but he jumped my 2 yr old grandbaby and that JUST WON'T DO! Then I returned home and found a large HOLE in the back of my Brahma hen's head where the roosters had been trying to mate her. Everything I've read about caponizing one says they should be "young". My NHR will be 1yr old in April (my Porcelain d'Uccle too, but I'm not too worried about him). And my Brahma and Americauna will be 1 yr old in June. Is it too late to have them caponized? My Vet has never done it but he said that he'd be willing to do it. I've also read about hormones, is that an option? Remember, these birds are NOT FOR FOOD consumption. When they die, they are buried. So nothing to worry about as far as hormones/humans.
PLEASE ADVISE, and Many, many thanks!!!!

My ADVICE for the safety of all including children mentioned is REHOME.
Caponizin will not do the trick at this stage. Sure your vet may agree to practice on them. He needs ca$h.
Caponizing works when done at about 7 weeks old give or take.
BTW.... I only keep chickens as pets also.
WISHING YOU BEST... :thumbsup

Unless you're willing to get a lot more hens, the best thing for safety might be to rehome.
That many roosters together will fight with each other over hens, and attack anyone they see as a threat
You could try keeping the roosters in a separate run well away from the hens, were they can't see them. We did this with about 6 roosters (brothers) before they went to the pot. The fighting wasn't too bad because they didn't have hens to fight over
