Overbreeding Quails

what i dont understand is why dont u put ur foot down and tell this person who u said is living in ur house to stop and follow rules or gtfo? Cuz honesty it sounds like they are going out of there way to over breed her they dont need to screw so much to get fertile eggs and these sound like normal sized cortonix they can some times need like 7-10 females for one male if hes that into it and this guy is putting hi. In with her alone just that one female every chance he gets ??? Yes thats bad

Is this other person a kid, a parent, SO or sibling? Things to look for for over breeding are bald head patches, which can lead to scalping. Egg color has nothing to do with it. My hens laid the same eggs when there was 10 male's and 6 hens as they do with 1 male and 3 hens. The pattern may vary day to day, but that's it

Do you have an incubator to hatch the eggs? Putting the female with the male is not going to make her go broody and set on the eggs.

If the person wants to raise quail from that pair, maybe make a deal: once per day, just long enough to see them mate once. Then she goes back to her own cage. Could even keep a calendar by the cage, and mark each day as it happens, to avoid repeats.

(Sometimes it's easier to limit things than to enforce a flat ban. And if the point is to get fertile eggs, then one mating per day should be more than enough.)

Well we’re not farming them, we actually have them as pets so we wouldn’t cull any of them but when a female keeps being overbred, can she possibly die? My last female quail was definitely overbred but she passed away because of a prolapsed vent that kept coming out.
Yes, she can. The male can cause injuries, and if he continues to do so, she may die from them.
