Last spring I got 8 chicks, bought 2 banty pullets later in the year. This spring I ordered 28 chicks, got 30, sold my EE roo, lost two chicks out of the 30, bought two more, bought a new SLW roo, sold 2 chicks, a friend hatched me two, sold 13 chicks, then bought 6 because it looked like one of the hatched two wasn't going to make it. Now I'm praying for the 17 eggs I have set in the bator to make it after a terrible humidity spike.
So current chicken totals:
2 Barred Rock hens
2 Golden Comet hens
2 black Sex-Link hens
1 EE hen
1 Mille Fleur D'Uccle hen
1 Light Brahma/Cochin cross bantam hen
1 Silver Laced Wyandotte roo
3 Columbian Wyandotte pullets
2 Gold Laced Wyandotte pullets
4 Silver Penciled Wyandottes (was supposed to be pullets, now I'm thinking 2 and 2)
3 Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets
1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte pullet
1 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte cockerel
1 Silver Spangled Hamburg cockerel
2 Silver Laced Wyandotte 3-week-olds
6 Speckled Sussex 2-week-old pullets
So... 33 chickens with 17 eggs with a hopefully imminent hatch (If I didn't kill them)
As much as I think I could never have too many chickens in my heart, I know in my head that I have way too many for my facilities right now. 24 is my coop limit and it's full up right now. The SSH and 5 of the SS are bound for sale soon.
On the fence about which SLWs to keep out of the 3 11-week-old pullets and 2 3-week-olds. Will be much simpler if the 3-week-olds turn out to be cockerels since I will just sell them then.
Definitely a bit overrun and still want more. Totally and completely addicted!
