Hi there, new to owning a flock and farming on my own, I've done some work and what not for the family. I've always been interested in owning a flock and now I have two gorgeous Narragansett Heritage poults at 4 weeks and a dozen Colombian Rock x chicks from the local TSC. I have a nice big coop, 40 to 50 year old log and mortar and it's very safe from the wind one half has a big chain link fence with chicken wire over top, the other half is big enough to house two or three horses. My dilemma is, I wish to keep them overwinter in an area about zone 3 at worst worst years and zone 4-5 normally. I will run a heater for water and probably a heatlamp, is there any way I can have some other animals in the otherside of my building to keep it warm enough for the flock. My mother told me two sheep will keep it warm enough for them.

Just throwing this out there, would love to here your feedback.
