I forgot about this...

One night, as I left my parents' house, I looked up to the street light. Thought there was a white plastic bag stuck to the power wire. Looked again and it was a huge barn owl. That big, sweetheart face scared the fire out of me.

I watched a great horned owl recently snag a rabbit just outside my door. I was impressed.

I came out in time to see him proudly perched atop his prize, and we looked at eachother for a moment, then he took off.

It is too bad that some of us are not better acquainted with the natural world. Sometimes I feel we are taught ignorance. Ignorance breeds fear. Fear breeds violence. Correct information and knowledge forms an understanding. With an understanding come intelligence, preparations, and prevention. If you know your opponent, you can prepare to thwart his attempts by putting up appropriate barriers in advance. This is not a criticism but an observation.

This allows the rest of the world to get along with its own, "routine" and run of the mill life.

Yes, I like the whole barrier thing but around here it is legal to shoot first and ask questions later if something is harming your farm animals.
SO..... good for you, I'd have it stuffed!

In regards to shooting protected species you might want to check with a competent lawyer in your area before stating that it is legal to "shoot first and ask questions later". A better understanding now might prevent legal problems on down the road.
