Owl killed duck- is it a youngster?

This was a terrible day. We had walked around 30 minutes before the attack. I think it is an owl? No marks except for the neck torn out. We are just south of Dallas, TX. AnyView attachment 3386436 advice on the bird?

Could any raptor, I don't know how normal it is for owls to kill something they can't carry. Sorry for your loss.

My guess would be an owl. They are notorious for only eating the head and neck in poultry if they are too large for the owl to carry.
