I have owls out to deter the hawks. Should I be moving them daily to different places around 3 acres or just around the pond area where the ducks spend their time? I know the hawks will catch on if not moved -but am I moving them to close to previous location??

After a hawk killed a chicken, I put up a fake owl, and it attracted owls! In the daytime. At this point, the chickens were all locked in the run, but the owls caused several alarming incidents, until I removed the fake one.

Wow interesting I have a fake owl up i never would've expected that. I haven't noticed any owls since I put it up but maybe I should take it down.

The owls have kept the hawks away- but one got my duck Wednesday. Since it has worked, I was wondering should I move them more?

Move them more, but can you secure your ducks? The hawks will be back. We stopped free-ranging a year ago because of hawks, (and then owls.) Our chickens had years of free ranging with only occasional losses, but for the past year, it seems too dangerous to let them out. One week of freedom 6 months ago enabled another hawk attack, tho they escaped. (Then came the whole owl experiment....)
