Im so sick of it.
About a year ago i gave my boyfriends mom my favorite duck.
She needs special attention for unknown reasons still.
So for about 3 months shes been the worst shes ever been.
It really hurts me to see her like that.
Her care giver has some unknown thing wrong with her and she wont leave the couch. She just sits there all day watching tv or talking on the phone.
So for a week or 2 she's been letting her just have sesures all around the house. She has lost a pound in 2 weeks because she cant eat on her own. So noe they take her to the vets and the vet tells them they have tried every antibiotic or wjatever to cure an infection or anything that might cause it. And if she isnt better by the next day that they should pit her down.

Now she cant eat walk clean herself anything

Its been 3 days now and they havent called the vet back and she's not any better.
Im sick of it and i dont know what to do. Shes darn selfish and wont put her down. Shes selfish so selfish. Rains the nicest duck and she dosent deserve a life like this. She cant lift her neck or control her body. Im contemplating wether to call the vet and tell them of the horrible conditions and neglect. Or the animal shelter because its sad and horrible to see my duck like that. The entire reason i gave my duck to her was becausr, when she had her first sesure i said to put her down. The vet said she wouldent have a quality life. I had to go to school so she took her and 'couldent' put her down. And i have school and cant fix her out of her sesures.

So there it is
What do i do

Edit: Her progress as of 6-2:
She suposedly lifted her head and tried to primp herself on a ride. The owner still hasnt called the vets. The duck stays curled up whimpering every now and then. Cant feed herself still. Can't walk. Cant clean herself. Still no REAL progress.

Also she is a female Crested Blue swedish duck.
Here is her before her first 'episode':

Wow , that is just wrong! If the vet has tried everything they can, I would have her put down. Especially if she can't walk. I don't know if birds can get sores from just laying there or not. But She isn't having a good life. Unless you can find someone else that has the time and patience to take care of her. I wonder if it something neurological. I'm sorry about your duck. I wish I could help!

If the owner cannot bring herself to put the animal down, yet cannot provide the correct care, perhaps it is time to bring in the humane society?

The only problem about calling them would be the horrible term i would be on with my bf's mom. She's vicous when it comes to dosliking something e.e i'm kind of afraid she will make us miserable if i do that

Can you take the duck back?
I would not hesitate to remove a duck from a home that I found for it if it was an unfit home.
I would never knowingly let an animal suffer poor quality of life. I would make a better quality of life myself or find someone who will.
And what a person thought of me for doing the right and humane thing would not bother me in the least.

Is this duck crested? Neurological problems are common in crested ducks in varying degrees.

Honestly, I do suspect that this duck is going to die irregardless of what you do/don't do. If it's having seizures on a constant basis there's a good chance that it's suffering needlessly (oxygen deprivation) whether it is being well taken care of or not and personally I imagine it'll not last long one way or another.

The poor thing needs to be put down, IMO.

It probably needs vitamins. I have a duckling that was having episodes. I did some reading and found out the chicks starter did not provide all the nutrients it needs. So I got some poly vi sol(no iron) and started giving him some everyday.(three drops in a small dish of water) He is alot better now. He is not 100% yet, but close! I was going to cull him, but as my step son was carrying him away I stopped him. I guess because the little duck was such a fighter and tried so hard. I am so glad I did not put him down!

Because she probably is not feeding him right to begin with!

gosh, that's horrible! I would tell her you will take her back and help her. Then put the duck down!! That's cruel and who cares what she'll do to you!! She probally won't get off the couch and out from the front of the TV to do anything...
