Owning chickens in a township where they are illegal?

Thanks! I'll give that a read!

Here is what the ordinance says about chickens:

"The keeping of any animal, bird or fowl which emanates frequent or extended noise which shall disturb the quiet, comfort and repose of any person in the vicinity."

That may just mean no Roosters, which is the case for me. I am allowed hens, but no roos. Also had to ask my neighbors, who graciously all said yes. They enjoy getting free eggs as a thank you. :thumbsup

Appreciate you doing your homework and wanting to do things correctly!

They don't want complaints coming in that's why it's good to ask neighbors if they are ok with it. I did this at first then one neighbor moved a.new family moved in. I didn't ask them but they run a day care out of there house so I guess I put up with the kids they put up with the chickens. I lost my rooster so only hens.

Hello! My wife and I live in Chesterfield Township, MI, and it has always been our dream to have BYCs. We own our home and are on two acres, but our township outlawed BYCs in the late 1990s. We have noticed several of our neighbors have BYCs, some of which openly graze in their front yards. My wife talked to a police office recently, and he told her that we could get chickens so long as we got written permission from our neighbors on either side of our property. Does anyone here happen to have any information or know what he was talking about?
Your land you paid for it you pay the taxes
if one wants to raise 2 laying hens and 10 meat chickens this will not disturb a single living being
especially neigbors
Raise your chickens
don't overdo it
Check your local corn prices
