Oxine for open wound care?

Hello! I have a hen with a badly infected toe. Our vet cut it open on Monday to take a biopsy (no results yet).

We have been doing foot soaks for 10 minutes a day, twice a day, using Eposom Salts.

Curious if anyone has used a diluted Oxine solution for an open wound in chickens? I see it used for horses...

I would use betadine and then an eye type triple antibiotic ointment like Neosporin.

Thank you for your reply!! I've been using both bending and neosporin after we soak. Just wondering if there is something better to soak her foot in beside epsom salts.

I think Epsom salt is recommended. If the wound is deep, flush it with saline solution before the betadine.
