Thoughts on either? We have a very weak, sick chicken. Respiratory distress, can't stand, needs to be given fluids. She was improving yesterday but this morning took a turn for the worse. Someone local to me suggested Poultry Cell so we just gave her 1cc of that. But they also recommended the above antibiotics. I'd prefer to avoid them if possible but she's a pet who lays eggs and I'd rather keep her going. Which of the two is the least disruptive to their systems? Chickens already seem to be so susceptible to diseases that it seems counter intuitive to weaken the immune system further.

Both of those antibiotics may treat mycoplasma (MG) symptoms. What symptoms are you seeing? Is there bubbles or foam, or pus in an eye? Any facial swelling or sneezing, or rattly breathing? How old is she, and is she eating and drinking? Do you feel that she is not standing because she is dehydrated and weak? Some respiratory diseases are caused by viruses, and antibiotics will not help. The ones that are caused by bacteria or mycoplasma may respond to either one. Pictures may be helpful.

Sorry, no pictures, we lost her. But I want to learn for future.

No bubbles or foam anywhere. One eye was closed and gunked up; after a couple of applications of neosporin (someone recommended via dr. google), it cleared up. Panting for a bit, then yesterday she was breathing normally, eating and drinking. This morning back to panting. She was almost a year old (started laying around Dec/Jan). I think she was dehydrated because overnight we didn't give fluids (assumed she was on the upturn since she was doing that on her own). She was still shuffling around in the middle of the night when I checked on her. This morning, she was very red and yes, swelling around the face and her eyes even looked like they were bulging out. The poultry cell had to have been too late if it was going to be what would help her.

What she was eating: some feed topped with mashed hard boiled eggs. Drink of raw honey, apple cider vinegar, some garlic cloves and electrolyte/priobiotic powder.
