Oyster shell- necessary?

Is layer food complete? Or do they also require oyster shell?? Thanks!

Yes and Yes. Layer food is complete and serves the birds well. If you set out oyster shell they will eat what they need to compliment the feed. They basically self regulate to a large extent. Oyster shell does help them in their production of eggs.

I was feeding layer and was still getting soft shelled eggs.

I started offering oyster shell and have had no problems since.
