oyster shell substitute

oyster shell in a small chick feeder free will. They will eat it when they need it. Also left over egg shells.

if they aren't laying yet, they don't need it yet, thus they won't eat it yet....make sense?

Mine have a separate dish connected to the wall, they eat it when they need it....

Why do you cook the eggshells? I just crunch mine up into smaller pieces. Not even that finely. It sometimes amazes me how large of pieces chickens can eat, quite easily. I've seen them gulp down our giant cockroaches in a single swallow.

some people cook them to make sure there are no bacteria on them when they feed them back. i only do that for shells that come from eggs from the store or other people.
