How much oyster shell do you give at one time?? I know that's a crazy question BUT I went the the feed store today and they sell--Oyster shell by the pound or in 50lb bags.. I have 13, 19week old pullets and have NO idea how much they will eat! I purchased 3lbs and a little bowl for it.. Do I need to get more???

Another question--feed grit....Since they are locked up for a few more weeks, we have very sandy soil in the run, do I need to be feeding them grit...It comes in a large bag! Thank you..Dixie

Some people get a rabbit or gerbil feed thing and put the oyster shells in there. They eat as much as they need. Dont mix with their food just have a little place to put the oyster shells that they can find. They will only eat as much as they need. They will need the oyster shells when they start laying

I put the oyster shell in a separate bowl and they eat whatever they need. I don't think you'll need separate grit if you have sandy soil.
