what did they use before oyster shell ,i mean before we just went to the store and picked it up. what did great grampa use??

Great grand fathers would have used oyster shells as well. I have a raising animals book from the early 20th centry published by Cornel Univeristy. They list in the chicken feed recipe cracked oyster shells.
