Oyster shells

My chickens tend to avoid eating then in any great volume. Is it worth crushing them to nearly a powder and sprinkling on their food ? Also what amount does a laying chick need?

Best to leave crushed oyster shell the way it is, in a separate container near the feed.

They will consume as needed. I've had my 5 pound bag about 3 months for 5-32 week old pullets and there's about a pound or two left in the bag. GC
