Can you smash up oyster shells from your local seafood restaurant for your hens to eat? If so, should you boil them 1st to prevent getting any uncooked oyster particle left on the shell? I know you can buy oyster shells, but I am trying to be economical!

I am going to go out on a limb here and say yes you can get the oyster shell from restaurants and crush them yourself. I would throw them in the oven and bake them for an hour just to make sure there is no spoiled seafood on it and to make sure it is real dry. Congrats on your upcoming 1000th egg. How many chickens do you have total?
