Our official rooster count is up to 8!!! We started with one, then we had 2 chicks our hens hatched that turned out to be roosters. On a whim we bought 6 chicks from Tractor Supply this spring. We bought "sexed pullets" (breed was "hatchery choice"). These chicks grew up and guess how many are roosters. 5! 5 out of 6!!!!! Besides the 8 roosters, we only have 7 hens and one chick. So, I need to re-home at least the 5 from this spring. What we have: 3 are small, white with brown speckles - they get along well & are always together & easy to handle (names are Cookie, Marshmallow, & Sprinkles). The other 2 are HUGE GIANTS, very pretty, not as friendly, but also not aggressive with people - they also tend to hang out together, but don't seem to be best buds like the white ones (they started out named Big Bertha & Roberta). None of them have been fighting. All were hand-raised, have been around children, & are used to my dogs barking at them. They are all harassing my hens horribly, but I can't blame them given the ratio of roosters to hens! They need good, permanent homes, where they will never be eaten. I can provide pics if interested. Thanks, Ali

Hi, Would you please send pics of the smaller roos that you have. I would be very interested. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.

Hi PeepersMomma! I'm sorry i didn't see your messages (I thought I would get an email if someone replied to my post)! I will post some pics as soon as possible! We do not know the breed, my guess is a hybrid.
Thanks,
Ali

Here are some pics of the white roosters, as well as a couple of the big roosters.

The white and red ones are red sex link cockerels and the other looks like a New Hampshire. If you really plan on holding onto all of them until you can find them permanent homes, you should really separate them from the hens. Even just one is more than enough for a small flock.
