I've currently got two young ducks (3 months) in isolation together. They're in a sectioned off portion of the duck run, with nice soft pine shavings, a little food, and water. The drake is there recovering from a penis prolapse and his sister is recovering from some some cuts she got on her feet. I'm concerned about how much they're pacing back and forth—especially for the little lady since her feet need to heal up. Is this something I should try to get them to stop or will they tucker out after a while? The boy (Trooper) has been in there yesterday and part of the day before, but today is the little lady's first full day sharing the space with him. They can see out into the yard and see the rest of the brood and the adult ducks playing in the yard.

On a related note, does anyone know where I can get some duck booties? It looks like crazy k is all sold out currently.

For booties might just type it in on your search and see what you come up with. etsy maybe. As for the pacing any way you can fix their area so they can't see whats going on? that way maybe they will settle down.

Thanks for the links, I contacted crazy k and they said they should hopefully have some in stock next week so that's good news!

I tried blocking off sight, but they can still hear the other ducks and want to get out to go join them. For the duck recovering from the penis prolapse, the vet said we could let him out for a while at a time to bathe and socialize, but I'm concerned about the duck with her foot injuries. One foot looks a bit early infected; I think she scratched her feet up on some rocks. We have them in a nice dry area, but she seems SO upset, especially by about noon she begins pacing frantically and calling out. I'm tempted to let her out for a bit but I don't want her feet to get muddy/dirty etc. We're going to try to wrap her feet later today for a few days and see if that help speed her progress (we're currently applying topical treatments to her).

Put on the topical ointments then wrap. Keep her out of the water while she is recovering unless you bring her inside so you can dry her feet apply meds again and rewrap. You don't want bacteria getting in there.
Is she also on an antibiotic since she has an infection?

As for your drake, you don't want him mating. You want him completely healed before that begins again.

When my Runner sprained her leg I put her in a dog X pen where she could be with everyone but still where she couldn't be running around with them. I haven't ever had to deal with one of my ducks stressing out because they were not able to be with their flock. I'm not really sure what to tell you. You don't want her to make her feet worse.
Here is good info on wrapping
