Pack N Play Brooder?

the top was just framed with 1x2's covered with hardware cloth. The light was a 100 watt red lamp and it just laid on the screen. I cut a piece of cardboard to fit the bottom them just put pine shavings on that. It was easy to clean. They just outgrew it too fast.

My broody silkie mix is about to hatch five eggs, which is what brought me here. The nest box she's in is too high for the chicks to hatch in, she goes in lock down at the end of the week so I'm trying to figure out where to put her. My kids are older now so I used the pack and play for some kittens we saved a few months ago. Now I'm wondering if it'd work for Cheshire and her chicks. This is our first broody so I'm a bit nervous. Glad to see I'm not crazy for thinking a pack and play would work!

I've been looking into doig this. Does the netting cause any issues?

Yep, I've been using them for ages now. I put a bit of board on the bottom to make it more stable and it's easier to clean up too. They do get trashed after a few hatches but it easy to find them locally second hand.
