tknjk- I'm on day 14 too, just took mine out of the turner, I do use the shelf liner as it
helps A LOT for cleanup in my opinion. The dollar store has rolls of it. This is my first
quail hatch. I upped my humidity and it shot up to 80%, had to remove one sponge,
it's now at 72% and I'm happy with that. We'll see I have 53 coturnix and 3 button eggs.
I wasnt able to see anything candling either other than one that was cracked.

oh yes and about not seeing anything that IS normally a good thing

Normally im sitll able to make out the air cell but everything else is dark. If no light penitrats i know im good...if light does penitrate i know it's scrambled, or non-developed.

Yes a liner does make clean up a lot easier!

My incubator is really easy to clean out tho jus tpull the trays out spray em with lysol air dry, and sweep out the floor put teh trays back in and wala! -----tho i can crawl inside my incubator so it's way different LOL!

As for humidity, just how Shelley uses a higher humidity than me. I think honestly it's differences in incubator and sizes of incubator. But im not sure on that.

My wetbulb at 65% on my digital hydrometer gauge reads up to 100 so that's why i leave it there as that's whats recocmended for my specific incubator.

Well as far as humidity goes I didn't have time to come up with a very reliable
hygrometer, so I just used the little cheapo that I bought in the reptile section
at the petsmart. It constantly said 40% from the start. All I did was make sure my
resivoirs were always filled up with water. After I took the eggs out of the turner today
I put 2 wet sponges in the bottom under the mesh, and the hygrometer hasn't moved
off 40%, so I don't think it's too accurate. I just have to kinda wind it, and see how it
turns out with the humidity. If it doesn't work I will be prepared next time.

For what its worth, I remove the egg trays from the turner and leave the eggs in the trays to hatch. It keeps the hatched chicks from kicking all the other eggs around.

You can get a hygro/thermometer combo from walmart for less than $6, and they are pretty accurate. They are the ones selling on ebay all the time for over $20
