yes, I do that too. It makes the skin let go of the bumble. The one pictured above became mostly external, and the one that I posted previously (which went all the way through to be a bump between her toes on the top of the foot) let go mostly on their own, because the softened skin let go of the bumble.

The cutting I do is to loosen, or to the bumble itself, sometimes leave a little bit, bandaging, coming back and removing the rest when the skin has healed a bit. I have had minimal bleeding, and no-open wound to worry about re-infecting.

I really really do not enjoy the surgery part of chicken-care I am more of the spoil-them-rotten-with-toys-and-healthy-food kind of mom.
