Paint finish for coop exterior?

I would like your experienced advice about what type of paint finish to use for the exterior of my coop. We are renovating an existing shed that has a coat of paint on it already. I have bought exterior semi-gloss white paint for the interior because I know the semi-gloss will make clean-up easier. I can buy a gallon of barn red flat paint at Tractor Supply for $11. However, I'm thinking the flat paint won't look the best over time and am wondering if anyone has also used semi-gloss for the exterior and if so, do you like it?

Also, I posted a few hours ago asking if anyone uses cottonseed hull bedding for their litter and haven't gotten a response so I thought I'd add that question here as well.

I haven't had to paint the outside of my coop yet, but we did paint our storage shed a few years ago.

We used "outdoor" paint and it's holding up well. It was a semi gloss paint.

for the inside, you may want to make sure and put down a sealing primer before you paint so the poo doesn't soak into the floor. Cover the floor and at least half way up the wall with the primer. A have noticed a lot of people on here put down linoleum (?spelling) to make clean up easier.

As to the cotton hulls, I've never seen them so I can't help with that one.

This is my first coop too, so hopefully others will have some advice.
have looked at the coop section? Sometimes I think there's almost too much information on there

Thanks for your suggestions. I forgot to write that I am planning on putting linoleum down on the floor. So I'll just be painting the walls and probably the ceiling too.

I painted inside and outside with high gloss porch and deck paint, as per recommendation of many on this site. I am very happy with it. I painted it to waterproof it and help to protect the OSB, and to make cleanup easier. I must add that I used Valspar brand Paint gloss OIL based porch paint. I tried a cheaper brand but was not happy with it. I used KILZ primer / sealer for oil based painting before painting.

Good luck!
