I want to paint the inside of the coop (and outside) to make cleanup easier but I don't want the coop to be toxic if chickens peck at the walls - will they do that? Same thing with pressure treated lumber. I'd like to use it so the coop doesn't rot after the first two year but is it safe to use on a coop and for fencing?

We used PT on our run, and in any wood that lays on the ground for our coop. The part of the coop that was covered we didn't use PT. We've seen no ill effects to any of our animals. The moles are especially thriving...

I painted the outside of the coop with regular old exterior house paint. That could be used inside as well, although we used a form of masonite on the inside, so it didn't need to be painted for easy clean-up. Some folks use porch paint for their floors, and seem to really like it. We used scrap vinyl flooring.
