Paint for a coop?

I'm just about finished with building the new coop for our bird and would like to know if there are any paints which should be avoided.

I just want to make certain that whatever I paint it with will safe for chickens (since they seem to peck at everything).

I painted my coop interior with latex enamel from walmart. I actually used the stuff on clearance that wasn't mixed right. I did no priming. Just slapped it on there and no peeling and no chinkens pecking at it. I of course let it dry thoughly before letting them back in.

I don't believe there's anything sold today that's going to be a problem for yer chickens once it's dry and the fumes are well gone. So I really would not worry about it. Find odds-and-ends from peoples' basements, or mistints from the store, or pay full retail, whatever you prefer, the chickens won't care

Have fun,

Pat, who really *enjoys* painting things, does that make me weird?

I hate painting. So because of that I let my wife do all the painting of the rooms in the house. That of course has not all gone in my favor as colors are concerned.
