We've bought a new coop to replace our old one.

I'm painting this one instead of leaving it bare wood.

My question is, do I paint the inside where they sleep a dark colour to make it cosy to sleep? I've seen some mixed ideas, some are saying to paint it white to make it 'bright and fresh'. Isn't that the opposite of what you want at sleepy time?

Harmful paint is usually the old paint that had lead in it.

New paint in general(or maybe all?) is now lead free.

As a result most paint is now safe to eat... but you can pick paint specifically made for nurseries that is super safe.

I had a long chat with our supplier explaining what I wanted the paint for & the job I expected it to do & anything that would withstand the sort of coop clean out a really good scrub entails wasn't recommended. However, as I pointed out, I'm in a different country & the make~up in your paints may be different & thus more suitable. Better to check & be safe, I figure.
