Gosh I hope it isn't that bad. Have you posted on BYC for advice? God knows avian vets seem to be as rare as hens teeth here in the UK.

Really? I'm in the UK and I was suprised to find out my local vet treated birds too! I've taken my chickens there before.

Oh I know! Walked into petsathome the other day (terrible idea) to get some medication. It's all dogs and cats, not even anything for parrots.

As to posting for advice.
I've looked at many many old threads about the same thing so I have a pretty good idea of whats going on.

My hen had bumblefoot years ago when I was new to chicken keeping and I took her to my vet. Vet had no idea what it was or how to treat it and started Googling it. She admitted she knew less than me, so I treated it myself

They do! My vets and the receptionists love the chickens!

Yes they are pretty mainstream aren't they. I find I'm buying almost everything I needs from Ama-zon these days

They're utterly useless to say the least.
The staff know how to handle a rabbit and that's just about it.
