I got my coop from a guy who had it for over 10 years, i have never had anyone tell me to paint the inside and he didn't paint it either. so i think that you would need to even spend you money on the paint.

I keep all of my walls bare for the chicken house. I eat my eggs and...............my chickens. You are basically eating everything that your chickens eat when you eat an egg, or at least that's the way I see it. But then again, I toured a chicken processing plant once and stopped eating chickens for 7 years afterwards. It would sort of defeat the purpose of raising my own I guess. Besides when you throw a bunch of little curious chicks in there they are going to spend hours and hours pecking away at the walls anyways.

I painted the inside of my coop. Makes clean up so much easier and reduces the hiding places for mites. And I just like the way it looks.

Prime first (I use oil based kilz on bare wood) and then use an exterior semi-gloss paint. Any color is fine, but lighter ones will reflect more light. Have fun!
