should I paint the bottom plywood floor to the new chicken coop?

Paint would probably make it last longer. Another option might be to find some cheap vinyl - remnants at your local Big Box store.

I don't have a wood bottom coop so don't have real world experience. We used HardieBacker for our poop boards, for what that's worth.

Hi and welcome to BYC from northern Michigan

Anything you do to seal the wood and protect it from moisture will help it last longer and be easier to clean. I use vinyl floor covering and it works great.
