Did anyone paint inside their nesting boxes with exterior paint? I hear that the plywood can hold mites in so is it ok to paint the boxes or not? Just wondering......We are painting HOPEFULLY this weekend.

I can't answer for sure if it's ok or not but I didn't paint the inside of mine. I guess if I ever had a problem with mites I might paint inside them. Several times throughout the year I spray the coop with Orange Guard to help ward off pests. I did paint the inside of the coop and the rafters. I used a paint by Sherwin Williams called Harmony. Low to no VOC. It was very expensive and requires at least two coats to cover well. If I painted the inside of the nest boxes it would be with something that has low or no toxicity. Also, when I painted in the morning, there was no smell later in the day. Here's a link to Harmony.

I didn't paint anything in my two previous coops. The one I am building now I plan on painting every square inch of. Not sure if that helps you any....

As long as painting won't hurt the little girls I think I will paint....much cleaner that way and I can just spray it down. I will used the same paint ALL over...exterior inside and out.
