Painting inside of coop - how long until chickens can return?

Noticed when cleaning the coop today that it is getting moisture damage even though the whole thing was wood-stained. (thanks endless rain). I want to paint the coop, including inside to add protection against mites (think I have gotten rid of them, but i am sure there will be still a few hiding out). I know birds are pretty sensitive to fumes and was wondering how long you need to leave the paint to dry/cure before the chickens can return to sleep there. Don't want to accidentally create a gas chamber.

Thanks

Until you can no longer smell paint, then shut it up overnight and if you still cannot smell a thing in the morning it's probably fine. Sorry, that's more a "how to tell" than a number of days.

Maybe plan on housing the chickens somewhere else for a week, but lengthen or shorten the actual time based on how the paint is doing.
