We are almost done with our first chicken coop. I was just wondering if anyone here knows if there are certain kinds of sealers or paints that can not be used on the inside of the coop. We framed it up with treated lumber, but the rest is untreated. We are painting the outside, and I wanted to either use a sealant or paint the inside. I'm just not sure what is safe for the chickens.

We just built ours too, similar to what you described but we are going to glue cheap linoleum down so we can mop it up every once in a while, but we are going to leave the wood walls on the inside as they came.

I used a regular exterior paint for the inside of my coop. (Lowes; Porch&deck paint) I painted the inside white. The white really reflects the light and brightens up the inside. It also makes it easier to see anything that should not be in there, bugs, whatever. I used a rubberized roof coat(Blackjack#57) to seal the floor. People go with a range of other stuff to protect the floor. But, IMO, the roofcoat is the best.

Thanks for the input... We are doing vinyl on the floor and part of the way up the wall. I was just concerned about painting it. So, it looks like I am on my way to get some white exterior paint.
